Description

The reel is labeled "Geo. Hight" likely acquired from the estate of George C. Hight (1923-2010), a notable photographer and illustrator based in Gallup, NM. We acquired it from another estate where it had been in storage since Hights passing. Hight was best known for photo documentation of multicultural life in Gallup, NM and the Diné people of Arizona. This vintage film seems to be a personal home movie which opens with a view of Window Rock a natural sandstone formation near Window Rock, AZ, capital of the Navajo Nation. Hights vast collections of negatives are archived at the Smithsonian and native American museums and UNM. We do not know reel type, but it measures about 3 1/2 inches. We think it is Super 8 due to small sprocket holes on one side. You will need to be sure of the film format before buying. Film stock appears to be in very good physical condition, but we do not have the ability to view it, test it and know very little about it other than what was stated.
